The Community Utilities team is passionate about delivering high quality services to our community to meet their needs now and into the future and welcome applications from experienced and suitably qualified Engineers and/or Technical Officers working in the Water and Sewer industry.

If you are:

  • A senior trade qualified technician with experience working in the water / sewer industry and looking for that next career move;
  • An engineer with experience in the water and sewer sector or that can map their experience to the water and sewer industry who is looking for new challengers; or
  • A recently graduated engineer who may be interested in starting their career in the water/sewer field.

Our Community Utilities directorate was formed in 2021 to future-proof our local government area with innovative and compliant utilities that protect the environment, will meet our needs and support our growth. Our immediate needs include applying an asset management approach to address our ageing assets with renewals and maintenance of key infrastructure. Providing safe and reliable water supplies, sewerage services and waste management are key elements that contribute to the health and wellbeing of our community and environment while also boosting our economic productivity.

Community Utilities team is made up two groups:

Our Planning and Design Group is driving the future programs and asset management requirements through the core functions of:

  • Water, sewer and recycled water – future network and renewals planning
  • Waste planning and development
  • Business development and financial planning of our services
  • Development of, and ensuring, compliance with technical specifications, including standard drawings
  • Smart technology development
  • Whole of life asset management

Our Utilities Operations Group is responsible for the daily management of water, sewer and waste services through these areas and functions:

  • Water and sewage treatment plants, and recycled water plants
  • Waste management facilities
  • Operations around distribution and collection, renewals, and asset management for all utilities
  • Engineering Trade Services

Remuneration & Benefits

Our roles sit at a number of different salary grades within our salary structure with all salaries being exclusive of superannuation (paid at 10%). Salaries are based on skills and experience.

  • Grade 12: $74,463.30 - $83,796.66
  • Grade 13: $78,660.18 - $88,541.64
  • Grade 14: $83,003.22 - $93,380.58
  • Grade 15: $87,283.62 - $98,245.62
  • Grade 16: $91,537.92 - $103,027.14
  • Grade 17: $98,120.34 - $110,418.66
  • Grade 18: $104,546.16 - $117,669.24

Dependent on the role you may also be entitled to a Civil Liabilities Allowance at 3.5% and/or Vehicle Allowance at $8,580.00 per annum and/or Leaseback Vehicle.

PMHC operates some flexible work arrangements with these roles in relation to hours and office or site attendance.
